What began as a search for regional work led Deesha to a bar job in South Hedland an unexpected starting point for what would become a remarkable career path. Welcomed into the community, she quickly found herself encouraged to explore opportunities beyond hospitality. When someone suggested she look into the mining industry, she decided to give it a go.

Joining NWA marked a turning point. With no prior industry experience but a genuine drive to learn, she immersed herself in the work eventually stepping into one of the largest contracts in the Pilbara. Curiosity soon evolved into passion. As she built strong relationships with her team and clients, she also grew confidently into her role.

Today, Deesha reflects on just how far she’s come. Moving from London to Port Hedland and stepping into a waste coordinator position has been nothing short of transformative.
