𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞: 𝘕𝘞𝘈 𝘢𝘯𝘥 Veolia Australia and New Zealand’s 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱
In the face of an impending weather event in the Pilbara earlier this year, NWA joined forces with its partner Veolia Water to ensure the resilience of our clients water infrastructure and getting it back on line as soon as possible. Here’s a glimpse into the preparations and recovery efforts undertaken.
𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
- Remove loose items and tie down chemical IBC’s.
- Ensure all tanks are at a minimum 30%.
- Ensure Balance tanks are as close to 30% as possible, in readiness for large influx of water. Increase plant capacity.
- Overflow tank has capacity to cope with large influx of water, and is tied down.
- Make sure chemical inventories levels are adequate to cover non manning of site.
- Have adequate stock of sand bags and other materials to prevent water ingress to the control room.
𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆:
- Veolia Water and NWA crews were immediately deployed to assess damage and restore water services.
- Water quality testing was conducted to ensure the plant complied with discharge requirements
